April 2017 : Apprentices Visit British Steel
The second batch of apprentices visiting British Steel
A second group of apprentices visited the British Steel Teeside Beam Mill to gain an insight in to the steel production process.

The design, drawing, production planning and quantity surveyor apprentices were given a presentation covering technical aspects of steel design and a tour of the beam mill. The apprentices were impressed with the size of the British Steel facility and the amount of automation.

Elland steel trainees visited the British Steel rolling mill and service centre in Teesside for a tour and presentation as part of our commitment to ensure all our staff have a full understanding of the processes involved with a steel framed building, from producing the steel right through to erection.

Staff at Elland Steel left their suits at home and wore their jeans on Jeans for Genes Day 2016 which took place on Friday 23rd September making a donation of at least £2 each to wear their jeans on the Day.

We all inherit a range of talents, skills and personality traits through our genes – they’re part of what makes us who we are. But 1 in 25 children also inherit a genetic disorder that makes their life very difficult. By pulling on a pair of jeans overdoing it in denim, we will be helping to fund the vital care and support services that transform their lives.

Elland steel have been audited by the BCSA under the Building Information Modelling Charter and have demonstrated that they have all the necessary policies and procedures in place to comply with both PAS 91-2013 and PAS 1192-2:2013 to achieve ‘Level 2 BIM’ maturity.

May 2016 : Elland Steel Truss Lowered Into Place In Ground-Level 'Topping Out' Ceremony
Ceremony to Mark The Truss Being Lowered Into Position
A 16.2 metre tall steel truss was fixed in place using a stainless steel pin by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Bob Cryan, the High Sherriff of West Yorkshire, Mr Chris Brown and Mr Pat Boyle, MD of Morgan Sindall Construction as part of a ceremony to mark a crucial stage in the construction of Huddersfield Universities new £27.5 million Oastler Building.

Having been with us since October 1982 one of the most long standing employees in our fabrication shop Walter has now retired after over 33 years of service.

We would like to thank him for his commitment and hard work over the years and wish him a long and happy retirement.

One of our loyal employees, Steve Shaw has been presented with a voucher for a well deserved holiday following 40 years of continuous service with Elland Steel.

Steve was presented with this by our Managing Director Mark Denham and Production Manager Gary Roe.

September 2015 : Contract For Work On New Huddersfield University Building Secured

Elland Steel have secured the contract to design, fabricate and erect the steel frame for the Oastler Building at Huddersfield University worth approximately £1 million.

The new landmark building on Huddersfield ring road will provide new teaching spaces for the University's Law School and the School of Music, Humanities and Media.

December 2014 : A Significant Portion Of 2015's Turnover Secured In December 2014
  • Central Square, Leeds a 12 storey office block containing approximatly 2000 tonnes of steelwork valued at around £4,200,000

  • Liverpool Royal Hospital a new prestigous city university hospital, around 1700 tonnes of steelwork valued at around £3,500,000 for Carillion Building.

  • The Embankment, Greengates Manchester a 2,800 tonne car park supporting a 12 storey office block above, for Carillion Building. Value approaching £6,000,000

December 2013 : Elland Steel Structures Ltd - Secure New Contracts For 2014

Elland Steel Structures Ltd are pleased to announce that we have been awarded £8 million of work in the month of December. This work comprises orders for 8 No contracts for a variety of well known Principle Contractors, the work is spread throughout Q1 and Q2 of 2014 and gives Elland Steel a solid start to next year.

July 2013 : CE Marking for all Construction Products

CE marking for all construction products, covered by a harmonized standard or conforming to a European Technical assessment became mandatory on 1st July 2013. For fabricated structural steelwork, CE marking will become mandatory on 1st July 2014. For further information please refer to this BCSA document.

June 2013 : Elland Steel Structures Ltd - 40 Years of Successful Trading

In 1973 Keith Denham founded Elland Steel Fabrications in a small rented workshop (500 sq ft) in Elland, West Yorkshire. After steady growth, in 1982 Elland Steel moved to Marshall Hall mills (7000 sq ft) located in Elland, the company has started to undertake sub-contract work for larger structural steelwork contractors. As the company grew in stature it commenced working direct for Principle Contractors towards the late eighties. In 1990, Elland Steel Structures Ltd as it is known today bought its present site in Highroad Well in Halifax (100,000 sq ft). In the early nineties the company supplemented its drawing office with the 3D detailing system STRUCAD and in 1994 began to employ its own in-house designers.

February 2013 : CE Marking to Execution Class 4 level

Elland Steel Structures Ltd have been upgraded from execution class 2 to execution class 4 status. Execution class 4 status is reserved for the most rigorous requirements of fabrication covered by BS EN 1090-2 and covers all building structures anticipated in the UK and Euro regions.

January 2013 : International Welding Qualification

Mr Mark Denham has successfully completed eight further one week long modules at the Welding Institute (TWI) to gain the qualifications of International Welding Technologist (IWT) and International Welding Engineer (IWE). These qualifications satisfy the academic requirements of “Specific” and “Comprehensive” knowledge as specified in EN ISO 14731.
